La crisis financiera internacional llegó al punto en que líderes de diversas regiones geográficas llaman a establecer un nuevo "Bretton Woods". El término hace referencia a la fundación de la arquitectura financiera que al final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial sentó las bases para instituciones como el Banco Mundial (BM) y el Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI). El secretario general de la Organización para la Cooperación y Desarrollo Económico (OCDE), Ángel Gurría, afirma que ésta es la hora de las reformas. Conversó con él Sergio Acosta, de BBC Mundo.

Unemployment in France

As a result of the financial crisis, French President Nicolas Sarkozy has introduced new measures to combat unemployment in France. Steffano Scarpetta, head of OECD's Employment Division, says that governments need to ensure that job creation measures are compatible with long-term employment objectives.

OECD Secretary-General talks about credit crunch

One prominent US economist, Nouriel Roubini of New York University, is warning that the total fallout will top $2-trillion. He thinks it will also trigger a long and painful recession, the likes of which hasn't been seen since the Great Depression. Estimates by the IMF and the OECD are still in the hundreds of billions of dollars. The secretary-general of the OECD, Angel Gurría is visiting Australia and he spoke to Richard Lindell.

Während Bundeswirtschaftsminister Michael Gloss eher eine ernste Mine zur Schau stellte, verbreitete OCDE General Sekretare Angel Gurría, am Mittwoch in Berlin gute Laune. Seine Arbeit war bei der Vorstellung des „Wirtschaftsberichts Deutschland 2008“ ja auch getan. Die von Gloss und seinen Kabinetskollegen beginnt hingegen erst oder sollte.
