Secretary-General's official visit to Denmark (21-23 January 2007)

During his official visit to Denmark, OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría met with:

  • Mr. Thor PEDERSEN, Minister for Finance
  • Mr. Bertel HAARDER, Minister of Education and Ecclesiastical Affairs
  • Ms. Tine AURVIG-HUGGENBERGER, Vice-President of the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions

He also met with:

  • Danish business leaders and the Chairman of the Trade Council of Denmark (Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
  • The Permanent Secretary and representatives from the Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs

Financial crisis: Save our savings

Amid the worst current financial crisis since the 1930s, EU leaders have pledged to protect savers’ deposits. Already most OECD countries have explicit deposit insurance schemes for savings up to certain limits. In a number of countries these have now been raised temporarily.
