The records of the Organisation that have a historical value are declassified after 10 years.
The OECD Archives contain information as from 1947, beginning with the Committee for European Economic Co-operation (CEEC) and the Organisation for European Economic Co-operation (OEEC), which were the predecessors of today's OECD.
These archives document the Organisation's work including agendas and minutes of Council and committee meetings, background documents, technical and working papers, press information, and the Secretary-Generals’ speeches, interviews and events.
To consult archived records, researchers can either:
-
Request an appointment with the Records Management and Archives Service to consult records in the OECD office in Paris, by sending an email to archives@oecd.org. It is important that the field of interest is specified. An archivist will prepare the records for consultation and will assist the researcher throughout his/her stay.
Or
-
Go to the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy. A subset of the declassified records is available there. A calatogue of available materials prepared by the EUI can be consulted on line.
Unclassified documents and those that have been downgraded (declassified) from 1990 onwards are available on line on the Official Unclassified OECD Documents page.
