Temporary staff

The OECD regularly seeks candidates to meet specific needs on a short-term basis.  Most of these temporary assignments are to work as secretaries and statisticians.

The following information is in summarised form intended for general guidance only. Please note that due to the initial short-term duration of appointment, recruitment is normally local.

Appointments
Appointments to temporary staff are made by an offer letter.

Salary
The basic salary is specified in the offer letter and is payable in euros. The basic salary ranges per month, from approx. 2200€ to 2900€ (secretaries) and 2900€ to 3800€ (statististicians).

Please bear in mind that the salary for temporary staff is taxable and that the salary and conditions indicated for established staff members are not applicable to temporary staff.

Annual leave and holidays
Annual leave amounts to two and a half working days for each month of full-time service. Working days (8 hours per day) are Monday to Friday inclusive, and French public holidays are observed.


Who can apply?


The people we are looking for should have...

  • Excellent knowledge of one of the two official languages of the Organisation (English and French) and a good knowledge of the other.
  • Very good knowledge and experience in IT applications.
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team within a multicultural and international environment.
  • Very good organisational skills and the ability to adapt rapidly to new tasks.
  • Candidates for secretarial/administrative jobs are required to have a good level of secondary education and previous relevant experience.
  • Candidates for statistical jobs are required to have a post-secondary education, preferably with a university degree or equivalent in economics or statistics.  Experience with OECD-related statistics desired.  Knowledge of and experience with the use of SAS, STATA.
  • Recruitment of statisticians is subject to a written test.

 

Some examples of work entrusted to:

 Secretaries  Statisticians
Provide a range of secretarial assistance for one or several managers, such as handling correspondence, organising missions, filtering telephone calls, diary management, maintaining a filing system.

Provide support in collecting, verifying and analysing data, reviewing for accuracy and consistency.

Prepare, in both official languages, documents and publications (formatting, editing, inserting tables and graphs). Presentation of multiple types of data, preparation of tables and graphs, including contribution to the drafting of official documents and publications related to statistics.
Assist in the preparation of OECD meetings which involves a diversity of administrative tasks. Maintaining/developing of data bases, and develop computer programs using a variety of software.
