Ireland - Pension System Overview

Tour d'Horizon

The Irish Government proposes a wide-scale reform program of its pension system.

The Irish Government recently published  the new National Pensions Framework providing high-level strategic directions for the implementation of pension reform policies in the country - covering the state pension, public service pensions, the introduction of an auto-enrolment scheme for private sector employees, the improvement of the design of occupational and personal pension vehicles and their tax treatment, changes in retirement age and work flexibility at retirement, etc.

The detailed reform arrangements are still under development and will be realised in due time for consultations with all interested parties.
